Numerology Meanings

The science of the mystical meanings of numbers and their influence on the lives of humans is called numerology. It is an intricate mathematical system that can divulge a lot of information about a person's personality traits by birth date, experiences and future, through some logical progression of numbers. The numbers used for making such revelations are birth date, time and place. Even the name of a person is converted to numbers with certain methods to understand more about him. In the following paragraphs, I have given the numerology meanings of numbers and the history of numerology in brief.

Brief History of Numerology

No one has the exact facts about the origins of numerology. Traces of evidence have been found that suggest that numerology was in practice thousands of years ago in China, Greece, Rome, and Egypt, long before the time of Pythagoras, who is regarded as the father of numerology. The earliest knowledge of numerology was not recorded in scriptures or any other form. That is because it was considered to be sacred and was handed from generation to generation orally.

Pythagoras strongly believed that the entire universe was controlled by the power of numbers. He proposed that everything had mathematical patterns and that everything can be expressed in the form of numbers to understand everything about it. He believed that even abstract concepts could be converted into numbers and that those numbers would have specific meanings.

There are a lot of different types of numerology like Indian numerology, Hebrew numerology, Chinese numerology, etc. But the three major forms of numerology in use today are the Kabbalah, the Chaldean and the Pythagorean. The kabbalah system only deals with names. That is, it helps you convert names into numbers and understand their meaning. The Chaldean system was discovered in ancient Babylon and it makes use of compound numbers. It is believed to be the most accurate system. The Pythagorean method was developed by Pythagoras and was popular during his times. It was used to find the numerology compatibility of people.

Numerology Meanings

To predict things about a person, different numbers associated with the person are derived. There is a separate way to find each of these numbers. Here is the meaning of numerology of each type of number.

The Life Path Number
This is regarded as the most important number associated with a person. It is determined by taking into account your birth date, month and year. The number reveals some important details about your life path, traits and personality.

The Expression Number
This number is deduced from the letters in your name. Your first name, your full name, and your family name, have different numerology meanings and each meaning can affect your life differently. This number tells about your goals and aims in life.

The Soul Urge Number
Your soul urge number is obtained by adding the sum of all the vowels in your full birth name, then reducing the numbers to one digit. For reducing the number to one digit you have to keep adding the digits in a number. For example, if the number obtained is 12 you have to add 1+2=3 thus making it a single digit. This number tells about your inner most desires.

Inner Dreams Number
The inner dreams number of a person is calculated by adding the sum of all the consonants in his or her full birth name and reducing the numbers to a single digit. This number tells about your subtle dreams and wishes.
